Opus Academy

Cookie policy

Last updated October 25, 2026

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Your browser can also keep small bits of data called local storage. Both work the same way for what this page covers, so we call them all "cookies" below.

This page lists everything Opus Academy saves in your browser, who sets it, and what you can switch off.

What you can choose

  • Necessary: always on. Sign-in, your light or dark setting, and the record of this choice.
  • Embedded videos: off until you allow them. Some lessons play a video hosted by YouTube, Vimeo or Loom. Those companies may set their own cookies, so we do not load their players until you say yes.

We do not use advertising cookies or analytics cookies.

Everything we store

Necessary items are the only ones set without asking. If you are not signed in, the Clerk items may still be set because the sign-in code runs on every page.

Videos from YouTube, Vimeo and Loom

When a lesson uses one of these, you see a box with a "Load video" button instead of the player. Nothing is requested from the provider until you do one of these:

  • Press Accept all on the cookie notice, or turn on Embedded videos in Cookie settings. Every embedded video then loads, on every visit, until your choice expires or you change it.
  • Press Load video on one lesson. That one video loads for that page view only. We do not save anything, so the next video asks again.
  • Press Always allow videos in the box. This is the same as turning on Embedded videos in Cookie settings.

Videos we host ourselves (uploaded to the Academy) do not use these providers and play either way.

What each provider does is their own, and we do not control it. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode and ask Vimeo not to track you, but we cannot promise they set nothing. Their policies:

Other companies you may meet

  • Google sign-in: if you choose "Continue with Google", you go to Google's own page, which uses its own cookies.
  • Payments: checkout happens on PayMongo's page. Their cookies are covered by PayMongo's privacy policy.
  • Clerk's network provider: Clerk uses Cloudflare, which can set a security cookie (for example _cfuvid) on sign-in requests. See Clerk's cookie page.

Changing or withdrawing your choice

Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page, or the button below, to open the cookie notice again and pick something else. Switching embedded videos off stops new loads straight away. It does not delete cookies a provider already saved in your browser. To remove those, clear cookies for that provider in your browser settings.

If you clear your own cookies, we will ask again next time you visit. We ask again after 12 months anyway.
